About the Artwork

I was given the opportunity to create a painting for the REGI Base Foundation, which created a charitable art project to support disabled war veterans and contemporary heroes. It was an event on the International Day of War Veterans 11.11.2020. It was an exhibition called “Poppies in paintings 2020.”

This is an excerpt about the project from the catalog of this event:

“The poppy is a symbol of war veterans and this symbol originates in the 1915 poem” In the Fields of Flanders “, written by Canadian surgeon John Mc Crea, who served on the Western Front during World War I near the Belgian city of Ypres. He expressed his grief over the killed comrades-in-arms.

To this day, the REGI Base I Endowment Fund also commemorates our Czech war veterans, policemen and firefighters who put their lives on the line to save others. The aim of REGI Base is to ensure that poppies can be purchased throughout the year so that funding can be provided on an ongoing basis to those who have served for us, as required by their state of health or family emergencies.”

The exhibition “Poppies in Paintings 2020” contains 27 paintings created by 25 contemporary artists. These works were donated to the REGI Base endowment fund and will be auctioned in the Weinberg auction hall in Prague online from 11.11. to 17.12.2020
